Servo Selected for Internet and Email Security Solution

Servo has been chosen by the Cumberland Building Society to secure employee access to Internet and email across its 46 sites.

The Cumberland Building Society short-listed a number of IT suppliers before selecting Servo’s comprehensive solution for Internet perimeter security, email scanning, web proxy and web content filtering.  Servo’s solution, which has been successfully deployed across the whole of the Society, includes: Sophos’ anti-virus software; MessageLabs’ hosted email and content scanning service; and Nokia’s Firewall/VPN appliance, which comes bundled with Check Point’s firewall software to protect vulnerable points on the network.

Gary Richardson, IT and Offices Services Controller at the Cumberland Building Society, said of the decision to select Servo for the security project: “Servo did a great job in understanding what we needed, putting together a carefully thought-out proposal and delivering exactly what was required”.

Servo has been a trusted supplier to the Society for many years, but was invited to pitch for the security project along with other IT suppliers. Richardson explains: “Servo always has to win new business on merit. In this case, they came in with what we felt was the best and most proven solution. We knew they could do it and they did – they did exactly what they said they would”.

The security products and services provided by Servo have proved effective and easy to manage for the Society and the benefits to the business have been considerable.  Secure Web access allows staff to be better informed and to make use of on-line resources - such as property valuation websites - to deliver improved customer service.  Staff can also now communicate more effectively with external partners, safe in the knowledge that their corporate email system is secure.
